CONCORD, N.C. – This offseason, Hendrick Motorsports teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help make a 4-year-old’s dream come true.
That’s how Lucas Ayers ended up on the Hendrick Motorsports campus.
"Last year, he was diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma and so we got the opportunity to have a wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation," Lucas' mom, Simone Ayers, explained. "That's what brought us here -- he wanted to see how a race car was built."
Lucas – who is currently cancer-free – had a full day that began with an official contract signing, continued with a tour around campus and a visit with some race car drivers and, of course, included some ice cream.
