PHOENIX -- Thursday, Jimmie Johnson took a break from the Colorado slopes and headed to the desert with Phoenix International Raceway.

Once there, the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion met Arizona's governor, Doug Ducey, before both climbed into Johnson's No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet SS.

Johnson took Ducey on a ride around the state capitol in downtown Phoenix and ended with a burnout before Ducey gave a proclamation for Feb. 16 to be "Jimmie Johnson Day" across the state of Arizona.

Johnson also helped promote the Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway on March 19 by announcing a special ticket package. For 48 hours only -- expiring Saturday, Feb. 18 at 11:59 p.m. -- fans can purchase an Upper Foyt Grandstand ticket for just $48. Tickets can be purchased here.
