AVONDALE, Ariz. – Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway, the Hendrick Motorsports teammates got off to a great start.
Chase Elliott, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. all finished inside of the top 10 at the end of the 75-lap Stage 1.
Elliott finished fourth, Johnson took the green checkered flag eighth and Earnhardt took 10th position.
All three drivers received extra points for finishing the stage within the top 10. Elliott picked up seven points, Johnson received three and Earnhardt added one.
Kasey Kahne finished Stage 1 in 14th.
Joey Logano won the stage.
Stage 2 will be 75 more laps before the final, 162-lap segment.
