FONTANA, Calif. – Stage 2 is complete with 120 laps in the books in Fontana, California, and for the second consecutive stage Chase Elliott finished inside the top five.
After a strong Stage 1, Elliott took the green flag for Stage 2 in sixth position. He continued to run in the top 10 and finished the stage in third. Elliott earned another eight extra points for the finish.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. started Stage 2 in 16th position and pushed through the field. He has been knocking on the door of the top 10, however he took the green-checkered flag in 12th.
Kasey Kahne battled the handling of his car throughout the segment and finished Stage 2 in 15th position.
Jimmie Johnson rounded out the team, finishing Stage 2 in 21st place.
Martin Truex Jr. won Stage 2.
Sunday’s race will conclude with a final, 80-lap stage.
