RIDGEWAY, Va. -- After 130 laps at Martinsville Speedway, Jimmie Johnson and Chase Elliott are currently inside the top 10.

At the conclusion of Stage 1 Sunday, Elliott led his Hendrick Motorsports teammates to the green checkered flag in fifth, with Johnson shortly behind him in eighth.

That earned both drivers extra points, with Elliott securing six points and Johnson earning three.

Kasey Kahne finished the stage 20th.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. was running inside the top 10 before contact with a competitor caused him to spin out with seven laps remaining in the stage. He was able to stay on the lead lap after quick repairs on pit road during the ensuing caution, and ultimately finished the stage 24th.

Stage 2 consists of 130 more laps before the final, 240-lap segment.
