KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Friday at Kansas Speedway, Chase Elliott was the only Hendrick Motorsports driver to post a qualifying time.

The only one of his teammates to pass pre-qualifying inspection, Elliott advanced to Round 3 of the session and will lead his teammates to the green flag in 10th.

Kasey Kahne, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. were three of 12 drivers that didn’t beat the clock to post qualifying times.

Johnson will roll off the grid in 29th, with Kahne following in 31st and Earnhardt in 33rd.

“I’m disappointed I don’t get a chance to go out and take my Lowe’s car for a rip,” Johnson said. “But I love passing cars and there’s a lot of room on this racetrack so I’ll be just fine.”

Ryan Blaney captured the pole.

Tune in to Saturday’s race at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1, MRN and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.
