CONCORD, N.C. – Last week, Chase Elliott took a trip to Illinois to test at Chicagoland Speedway.
He represented Hendrick Motorsports for the Goodyear tire test on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The driver of the No. 24 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevy said the on-track work made him even more confident in what Goodyear will provide the drivers at the track in the fall.
“I think they have a good, solid ground laid to come here and put on a good race,” Elliott said. “I don’t think they need to stray too far from what they have and they’ll have a good product.”
Working at the mile-and-a-half venue was a welcomed opportunity for the driver, and he appreciated being able to represent the organization.
Helping to ensure Goodyear can provide the best tires for the race provided plenty of benefits.
“It gives a team an opportunity to go test,” Elliott explained. “We don’t have many chances to go do that.”
The NASCAR Cup Series will hit the track at Chicago to kick off the playoffs on Sept. 17.
