CONCORD, N.C. – Sunday at Sonoma Raceway, Hendrick Motorsports left with two top-10 finishes.
The day prior – across the country at Iowa Speedway – a Hendrick Motorsports signee experienced a career first.
William Byron, who Hendrick Motorsports signed in 2016 and is currently racing full-time in the NASCAR XFINITY Series with affiliate JR Motorsports, earned his first career XFINITY victory.
The driver led 78 laps en route to Victory Lane, becoming the youngest winner in track history in the process.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., co-owner of JR Motorsports, said he was at a dinner with Axalta – a primary partner for Byron – and the room erupted when his victory was announced.
It certainly made for a memorable Saturday evening.
