WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Stage 2 at Watkins Glen International is in the books and Kasey Kahne led his teammates to the green-checked flag.

Kahne took the Stage 2 green flag in 19th. He was knocking on the door of the top 10, but ended up finishing the segment in 11th.

Chase Elliott started Stage 2 in the lead. He gave up the position when he made a green-flag pit stop, but worked his way back up to 18th by the conclusion of Stage 2.

Jimmie Johnson began the stage in fifth, however, he spent the stage battling the handling of his car and took the green-checked flag in 27th.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s day ended early at the conclusion of Stage 1. Earnhardt reported power issues and made a pit stop. The No. 88 Axalta Chevrolet SS team found a potential valve train issue, forcing them to bring the car to the garage and ultimately ending his race. He was scored 37th.

“Is been a really difficult week,” Earnhardt said. “The guys worked really hard, we changed this car inside and out twice this weekend. I sure enjoyed racing here and really appreciate the fans here.”

Daniel Suarez won Stage 2.

The race will conclude with a final 60-lap segment.
