CONCORD, N.C. – Before Jimmie Johnson and the No. 48 team head to Bristol this weekend, they made a stop at Chicagoland Speedway for a Goodyear tire test.

The driver of the Lowe’s Chevy took some time in between runs on Tuesday to share his thoughts on what makes the track unique.

“The bumps, without a doubt, the age of the surface, the tire-fall off, those three things all kind of play together here and I think make for a very fun track and a very competitive track where we can race from the bottom lane to the top,” Johnson said.

Chicago is one of only three active tracks in the NASCAR Cup Series slate where Johnson has yet to win, a fact that he'll look to change next month.

“This track is always a lot of fun,” he shared. “It has certainly aged a little bit more, little bit more character in the track, which I appreciate and love and I know that the rest of the field will as well.”

The next time Johnson will hit the track at Chicagoland will be on Sept. 17 to kick off the playoffs.
