CONCORD, N.C. – Jimmie Johnson and the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS team have the chance to make history – again.
Sunday afternoon, the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs kick off at Chicagoland Speedway and Johnson will begin his postseason quest for what would be a record-setting eighth championship.
Johnson is currently tied with NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt with seven championships.
An eighth title would mean Johnson stands alone in the record books.
