CONCORD, N.C. -- Chase Elliott led 11 laps early in Sunday's Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and he took the green-checkered flag for the end of Stage 1 in second place.
Jimmie Johnson joined him inside the top 10 with a 10th-place result in Stage 1.
Elliott earned nine extra points and Johnson took home one additional point due to their Stage 1 finishes.
Kasey Kahne narrowly missed extra points, finishing Stage 1 in 11th.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. closed out the 90-lap Stage 1 in 19th.
Stage 2 consists of another 90 laps, followed by a final, 154-lap segment.
