LAS VEGAS – Reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson passed the torch to Martin Truex Jr. during Champion’s Week in Las Vegas.
In this case, the torch is in the form of a journal.
After discovering that there was nothing being passed down from champion to champion, Johnson started brainstorming a new tradition.
“I asked (NASCAR president) Mike Helton if there was anything else out there that I didn’t know about or what could be done,” Johnson shared. “He gave me the idea of the journal, saying it exists for Presidents. They have this journal and it’s something I could put in place.”
And so he did.
