FORT WORTH, TEXAS – The starting grid for Sunday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway has been set following Friday’s shortened qualifying session.
The session was cut short when inclement weather hit the area after the conclusion of Round 1.
Jimmie Johnson led his Hendrick Motorsports teammates in the sole round of qualifying, earning a ninth-place starting position.
Alex Bowman and Chase Elliott qualified in 16th and 20th, respectively.
William Byron will start Sunday’s race at the rear of the field after the No. 24 Liberty University Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 team had to make an engine change due to an oil pressure issue following first practice. Byron still took practice laps in the qualifying session and finished 33rd.
Tune in to Sunday’s race at 2:00 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1, PRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
