CONCORD, N.C. -- Jimmie Johnson has been active on social media for quite some time, but with the season in full swing, he noticed an unfortunate trend over the past few months.
"As this year has gone on, and really it started at the end of last year, to see people talking about me or talking to me about my commitment, about my desire to win, it's just been incorrect and false," the driver said.
With that in mind, he said, he has made sure to share his thought process on where the No. 48 team is headed much more often.
Lately, that has come in the form of a Babe Ruth quote.
For weeks, he has brought the quote back to the surface, letting fans know that there is no quit in the No. 48 team.
After a sixth-place finish last weekend at Richmond Raceway -- his third top-10 in the last five races -- he alluded to the mantra once again.
"That Babe Ruth quote is spot on," Johnson said. "I've been searching around online and have found a bunch of other quotes that I'll probably use at some point as well, but that one is just perfect. There's just no giving up in me, and you can't beat somebody that doesn't give up, and there's none in this race team."
