CONCORD, N.C. – This weekend at Michigan International Speedway, in addition to driving his No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 on Sunday, Alex Bowman will pilot the No. 23 NASCAR Xfinity Series entry on Saturday.
It’s the first of two upcoming weekends in which he will pull double-duty. Bowman will also drive the No. 23 ride at Kentucky Speedway on July 13.
“I want to thank GMS Racing for letting me race the No. 23 Chevrolet this weekend in Michigan,” Bowman said. “Last time I was in the Xfinity race at the track, we started on the pole and I was able to lead some laps. I am looking forward to this weekend and what we can do on track with the No. 23 team.”
In his Xfinity Series career, Bowman has accumulated one win, six top-five finishes, 15 top-10s, three poles and 97 laps led. He has never finished outside of the top 15 at Michigan in the Xfinity Series.
He joins teammate Chase Elliott as a driver of the No. 23 Xfinity entry. Elliott piloted the car at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Pocono Raceway and is also scheduled to drive it in the Chicagoland (June 30), Daytona (July 6) and Bristol (Aug. 17) Xfinity races.
