BROOKLYN, Mich. – Friday afternoon at Michigan International Speedway, Chase Elliott led his Hendrick Motorsports teammates in qualifying.
Elliott narrowly missed advancing to the final round by one spot and will start Sunday’s race in 13th.
“I’m proud of the effort,” Elliott said. “I feel like we’ve been better over the past couple weeks.”
Elliott’s three teammates joined him in Round 2 of the qualifying session. William Byron will roll off the grid 14th, Jimmie Johnson 20th and Alex Bowman 21st.
Kurt Busch won the pole.
Sunday's race is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on FOX, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
