CONCORD, N.C. – The 2009 Cup Series season was one to remember for teammates Mark Martin and Jimmie Johnson.

In his first season driving for Hendrick Motorsports, the Martin captured 21 top-10s, 14 top-fives, seven poles, led 805 laps and drove to Victory Lane five times piloting the No. 5 car.

On Sept. 20, 2009, Martin earned his fifth and final victory of the 2009 campaign at New Hampshire Motor Speedway after leading 68 laps, including the final 29, on the way to Victory Lane.

The win was Hendrick Motorsports’ seventh of nine wins at the New England venue and it also marked Martin’s 40th and final NASCAR Cup Series win of his career.

That year, Martin finished second in the overall standings behind teammate Jimmie Johnson in a tight battle for the Cup Series championship.

Johnson would go on to win the next race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in June 2010, leading eight of the final 10 laps to give Hendrick Motorsports back-to-back victories at the track.

The organization will look to add to its nine wins, 42 top-fives, 75 top-10s and 2,538 laps led at New Hampshire this weekend.
