WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- Chase Elliott led the final 34 laps of Sunday's race at Watkins Glen International, but that doesn't tell the story of just how thrilling the final laps were as the driver of the No. 9 SunEnergy1 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 chased his first career NASCAR Cup Series victory.

Thanks to NBC Sports, you can relive the final lap as Elliott outran defending Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. to the checkered flag.

It started with a testy Turn 1, when Elliott was forced to go wide and Truex nearly caught him.

“I started wheel-hopping and I had two options – knock it out of gear or spin out,” Elliott explained. “We were coming to that white flag, I felt like I had a pretty nice gap, just don't mess up, and I messed up, of course. I had to knock it out of gear and I completely missed Turn 1. Luckily, I had a big enough gap that he couldn't get up next to me.”

Check out the nerve-wracking conclusion below.
