BRISTOL, Tenn. – Friday evening at Bristol Motor Speedway, Chase Elliott and William Byron led the way for Hendrick Motorsports, earning a pair of top-five starting positions.
Elliott will lead his teammates to the green flag Saturday evening and will start the race on the front row on the outside pole.
"Heck, two-hundreths of a second, I don't really know how to characterize that," Elliott said. "Hate we couldn't grab a pole, we put a lot of effort into it. Our Kelley Blue Book Chevrolet was fast today."
Byron finished the session closely behind Elliott and earned a fifth-place starting position, the first top-five starting position of his Cup Series career.
Jimmie Johnson narrowly missed joining his teammates in the final round. The driver finished Round 2 in 13th, one spot away from advancing.
Alex Bowman also advanced to Round 2 of the session and will start Saturday night's race in 22nd.
Kyle Larson won the pole.
Tune in to Saturday night's race at Bristol Motor Speedway at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network, PRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
