CONCORD, N.C. – Since the NASCAR Cup Series began racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1994, Hendrick Motorsports has won 42 percent of the races run at the iconic venue.

Its 10 victories in the annual Brickyard 400 event are the most all-time, with Jeff Gordon’s five wins ranking as the most all-time by a driver at the track and Jimmie Johnson’s four victories ranking second.

Of Johnson’s four trips to Victory Lane, two of those Brickyard 400 victories -- 2008 and 2009 -- were back to back, the only time the organization has won consecutive races at Indianapolis.

In the July  27, 2008 event, Johnson started on the pole and led 71 laps of the 160-lap race, including the final 10 circuits en route to his second career Brickyard 400 victory.

The following year, the driver found himself in Victory Lane once again. Starting the July 27, 2009 event in 16th, Johnson steadily climbed his way to the lead throughout the day, and by Lap 137, he was at the front of the field.

He stayed out front for the ensuing 24 laps all the way to the checkered flag, capturing his third of four career Brickyard 400 wins and his second consecutive win in the event.

Kasey Kahne earned Hendrick Motorsports' most recent Brickyard 400 win, finding Victory Lane at the venue in last year’s July 23, 2017 event.

A Hendrick Motorsports win this weekend would mark its 11th win at Indianapolis and the second time the organization has won back-to-back Brickyard 400s.
