SPEEDWAY, Ind. – Due to inclement weather, Sunday’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been postponed.
The Brickyard 400 is now scheduled for Monday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. ET.
Rain had already altered the start time of the race on Sunday, but the wet conditions ultimately prevented a Sunday race entirely.
When the green flag flies on Monday, Chase Elliott will lead his teammates to the starting line – the grid was set by the rule book after qualifying was rained out on Saturday.
Jimmie Johnson said the Brickyard 400 – the regular-season finale – could be “a very big turnaround race” for the No. 48 team, and both he and teammate Alex Bowman are eyeing playoff berths as they are currently 15th and 16th, respectively, in the playoff standings.
Elliott has already secured his spot in the playoffs, while William Byron would have to win the Brickyard 400 to make his way into the postseason field.
The race will be broadcast on NBCSN, IMS Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
