TALLADEGA, Ala. – A strong qualifying effort Saturday afternoon at Talladega Superspeedway saw all four Hendrick Motorsports teammates qualify inside the top 10.
On the strength of top-10 single-car qualifying laps in Round 1, all four drivers advanced to the final round of the session.
And in the final round, Chase Elliott earned the fastest lap time among his Hendrick Motorsports teammates, finishing the qualifying session inside the top five in fifth.
Jimmie Johnson, Alex Bowman and William Byron finished right behind Elliott and earned sixth, seventh, and eighth qualifying positions, respectively.
"All the Hendrick Motorsports cars are strong, which is good," Byron said following qualifying. "Hopefully our cars are competitive in the race and we can stay up toward the front and help the No. 88 make it to the next (playoffs) round."
Kurt Busch won the pole.
Sunday's race is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on NBC, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
