CONCORD, N.C. – The long-awaited secret is out.
Since September, seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson and two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso had been hinting at some sort of collaboration.
It began with a video posted on Twitter that left fans with more questions than answers. The only clue: the words “two champions.”
That was followed by another video posted a little more than a month later, which provided more hints when Johnson tweeted, “Two Champions. Two Cars.”
Friday morning, a final video filled in the rest of the details.
“Will you let me drive your car?” Johnson and Alonso asked one another in the video, which Johnson posted on Twitter.
It will be two champions, two cars and one track – Bahrain International Circuit – on Monday, Nov. 26.
"When you have McLaren, Hendrick Motorsports, Alonso and myself involved, it’s pretty powerful,” Johnson said of the very first teaser video back in September. “It’s pretty cool.”
