CONCORD, N.C. – At ISM Raceway, Hendrick Motorsports leads all NASCAR Cup Series teams with 10 wins, nine runner-up finishes, 11 pole positions, 47 top-five finishes, 82 top-10s and 2,635 laps led.
And the organization’s unparalleled success at the venue all began on October 30, 1994, with Terry Labonte leading Hendrick Motorsports to the checkered flag for the first time at the Avondale, Arizona venue.
Starting the day in 19th, Labonte steadily gained positions throughout the day to take his first lead of the day by Lap 192.
He held that lead for eight laps, and then led for another 75-lap stretch and the final 29 circuits en route to Victory Lane and Hendrick Motorsports’ historic first Phoenix victory.
The organization didn’t win at the venue again until 2005 courtesy of Kyle Busch, but that victory marked the beginning of Hendrick Motorsports' domination at ISM Raceway.
From 2005 to 2015, the organization found itself in Victory Lane nine times in the 11-year time frame, including six consecutive wins at the Arizona track from 2007 to 2009 via Jimmie Johnson (four) Jeff Gordon (one) and Mark Martin (one).
Gordon added another win in 2011, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. most recently took the checkered flag to earn Hendrick Motorsports its 10th win at ISM Raceway in 2015.
The organization will chase after win No. 11 this weekend.
