Johnson, teammates getting F1 race weekend experience with Alonso

CONCORD, N.C. – It hasn’t exactly been the typical Thanksgiving weekend for Jimmie Johnson and his teammates currently overseas with him.

Johnson is set to execute a long-awaited car swap with two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso on Monday at Bahrain International Circuit.

In the meantime, he made a pit stop in London at the McLaren Technology Centre, where he took an in-depth tour of the Formula 1 facility before spending time in the racing simulator and getting fitted for his seat.

Now, the driver and teammates on the trip are in Abu Dhabi for this weekend’s Formula 1 race. Of course, during the first weekend of the NASCAR Cup Series offseason, the group still found its way to a racetrack.

Johnson even got inside a car for some hot laps.
