CONCORD, N.C. – Wednesday evening, Hendrick Motorsports Gaming Club drivers Sam Morris and Nick Jobes took on the fifth race in the eNASCAR Heat Pro League season.
The Chicagoland Speedway race brought one top-10 finish for Hendrick Motorsports GC, as Jobes took home a sixth-place result in the 50-lap event on PlayStation 4. Morris finished 13th on Xbox One.
The Xbox race led off Wednesday’s festivities. After qualifying eighth, Morris raced his way into sixth early in the competition. When cars headed to pit road, the driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 returned to the track to hold sixth again. At the first competition caution, Morris had fallen to eighth. The final 10 laps of the race saw the driver in 10th, but when the checkered flag waved, Morris finished in 13th.
Next up was the PlayStation 4 group, and No. 25 driver Jobes took the green flag in 14th. Looking to get inside the top 10, Jobes made his was to 11th in the beginning laps of Wednesday’s race. After the competition caution, a multiple-car incident involving the No. 25 car had the driver looking to regain position after repairing damage on pit road. Able to make gains, the driver rebounded to crack the top five.
Just 10 laps remained at Chicagoland and the No. 25 car was in fourth. With some useful pit strategy, Jobes made his way to second as he tracked down the leader. As the final laps ran down, Jobes fell back in traffic to score a sixth-place finish.
Hendrick Motorsports GC now sits 12th in the eNASCAR Heat Pro League standings. Up next on the eNASCAR Heat Pro League schedule are races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 24.
