SPEEDWAY, Ind. – Hendrick Motorsports Gaming Club took home a top-three finish in Wednesday evening’s eNASCAR Heat Pro League Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
PlayStation 4 driver Nick Jobes finished third, securing Hendrick Motorsports GC’s best finish of the season, with Sam Morris crossing the line ninth in the Xbox One race.
Jobes started the 36-lap race ninth and was able to maintain a top-10 position in the opening laps. Ten laps later, he found himself knocking on the door of the top five and, after a round of green-flag pit stops cycled through, was two spots higher on the leaderboard.
ThePlay Station 4 gamer then raced as high as second before a handful of drivers, including Jobes, hit pit road with 10 laps remaining. In the closing laps, he was able to maneuver through the field, advancing from 11th to fifth with five laps to go and from fifth to third by the time the checkered flag waved.
Morris took the green flag in the Xbox One race from the eighth position and notched two spots before hitting pit road under green-flag conditions for fresh tires and fuel.
Restarting eighth, the driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet fell to 10th with 15 laps to go but quickly flexed his muscle and soon found himself in the top five just eight laps later.
However, Morris was involved in a multi-car incident in the closing laps that put him 10th with two laps to go. He was able to advance one spot before taking the checkered flag ninth.
Next up for Hendrick Motorsports GC is Michigan International Speedway on Aug. 7.
