CONCORD, N.C. – Sam Morris, driver of the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Gaming Club Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in the eNASCAR Heat Pro League, is an avid collector of NASCAR die-cast cars.

He took a liking to a specific paint scheme, and a specific car number, which just so happens to be his number now.

“It really hasn’t set in to see the No. 5 and that’s my car,” Morris said.  “I’ve always been a huge fan of the No. 5 car and its paint schemes; my favorite paint scheme ever is Terry Labonte’s. The 5 car is huge with the history of Hendrick.”

To Morris’ point, the No. 5 car was the first one fielded by Hendrick Motorsports back in 1984. Labonte piloted it in his Hendrick Motorsports career, which spanned from 1994 to 2005. The NASCAR Hall of Famer earned 12 wins during that span, and his success struck a chord with a young Morris, who said he tries to mimic Labonte’s driving style when he takes to the wheel in “NASCAR Heat 3.”

Take a look at the video above to hear from Morris on why the No. 5 car is so special to him. Be sure to catch the virtual car on the track next week when Hendrick Motorsports GC tackles Daytona International Speedway on Aug. 21, the last race of the eNASCAR Heat Pro League regular season.
