CONCORD, N.C. – With the throwback theme of this weekend’s Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, there’s no better time to come check out some history in-person at the Hendrick Motorsports Museum & Team Store on its campus in Concord, North Carolina.

After all, there are even two of the original cars after which William Byron and Alex Bowman’s throwback schemes this weekend are modeled.

Byron will pilot the No. 24 Hendrick Autoguard/City Chevrolet Throwback Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 this weekend, which takes its cues from the “Days of Thunder” ride that is currently on display in the museum. The striking green and yellow City Chevrolet ride is available for fans to enjoy and get an in-person look.

Bowman took the throwback weekend to honor Tim Richmond’s paint scheme from the 1990s. The Chevrolet is on display along with the trophy case behind it that has pictures, trophies and multiple artifacts from the late driver’s era.

On top of those retro rides, there are many more iconic artifacts to take note of on your next visit to campus. One of the most iconic cars in NASCAR history is the T-Rex Chevy. Having only raced once, in the 1997 All-Star Race by Jeff Gordon, the car went on to win the race.

There are plenty more Gordon cars in the museum including his iconic rainbow scheme. As the NASCAR Hall of Famer advanced in his career, so did his Axalta paint schemes, and there are plenty to see along with the driver’s trophies and firesuits.

Aside from all the cars, there are plenty of other items to look out for and purchase. There is a wall of die-cast cars, a display on how engines are made, sheet metal, and the history of the Hendrick family. Fans can also take advantage of the team merchandise area, where they can shop for their favorite driver’s swag, including brand-new throwback gear.

Whether you’re traveling to the race at Darlington this weekend or just heading to campus for a visit, there is plenty to see. Stop by and take it all in for yourself. Click here for more information on how to visit.
