CONCORD, N.C. – Wednesday night brought the best race of the eNASCAR Heat Pro League season for Hendrick Motorsports Gaming Club, as both drivers matched their season-best finishes while taking on Homestead-Miami Speedway in “NASCAR Heat 4.”
The Xbox One race kicked off the evening’s festivities with Sam Morris rolling off the grid 12th.
It didn’t take long for the driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 to climb inside the top 10, and with 30 laps to go he had made his way into the top five.
He was involved in a multiple-car incident late in the race, however, that relegated him to the back of the running order with 14 laps left.
With three laps remaining, the majority of the field headed to pit road to top off on fuel, but Morris had played the fuel-mileage strategy well, allowing him to remain on the track and advance all the way up to fourth before the checkered flag waved.
Following his teammate’s top-five finish, it was Nick Jobes’ turn to take on Homestead-Miami Speedway on the PlayStation 4.
Jobes took the green flag in seventh, and while he fell outside of the top 10 early, he climbed all the way into the lead as he remained on the track when competitors began to make green-flag pit stops with fewer than 50 laps to go.
He held the lead through the competition caution, and though he lined up second for the ensuing restart, he quickly reclaimed the top spot. Losing the lead, he continued to battle inside the top three until there were just 25 laps remaining.
Even after being shuffled back in traffic, he remained inside the top six before heading to pit road for a green-flag stop. A quick trip allowed him to return to the track in the race lead with 15 laps left, and he held it until a caution came out with just three to go.
On the restart, he narrowly lost the lead and ultimately crossed the finish line third as the checkered flag waved.
The championship finale of the inaugural eNASCAR Heat Pro League season takes place in two weeks on Oct. 23.
