CONCORD, N.C. -- Jimmie Johnson's press conference Thursday afternoon on the Hendrick Motorsports campus began with a memorable introduction.
The seven-time champion's daughters, Genevieve and Lydia, took to the microphone to welcome their dad as well as Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick to the stage.
"Thank you, ladies!" Johnson smiled.
From there, the driver of the No. 48 Ally Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE shared how he reached his decision to make 2020 his final full-time NASCAR Cup Series season. Along the way, Johnson and Hendrick swapped stories and relayed just how much they have meant to one another's lives.
At the end, Hendrick addressed Johnson directly, and the emotional driver closed out the evening with some thank yous.
