CONCORD, N.C - Christmas is around the corner and the new year is quickly approaching.

That means the offseason is underway.

And all four Hendrick Motorsports drivers are focused on getting some well-deserved R&R before putting the pedal to the metal in 2020.

Chase Elliott plans on doing some things he normally doesn’t have time to do during the NASCAR season, including going to the SEC Championship game to cheer on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs.

“My offseason so far has been pretty laid back,” said Elliott. “We haven’t done a whole lot this year but in year’s past there’s been a lot of travel. I might take a trip before it’s over with.”

And even though there’s a break from racing, the six-time Cup Series race winner may find a race to compete in.

“Some guys get together and race. I would love to go race, too. I just haven’t been able to line it up to do it exactly how I would like to but whenever you have the opportunity to go do something you don’t typically have the chance to do throughout the year, you have to try to go make happen.”

Similar to his teammate, Alex Bowman doesn’t want to stray too far from his racing roots during the offseason.

“It’s a long year and I think our schedule is really tough,” Bowman explained.  “At the same time, I work on the Chili Bowl cars pretty much all offseason. That’s all I’ve done so far. It’s a lot of work on its own. I’m enjoying it so far and just trying to have as much fun as possible.”

After an impressive season with a record number of poles and runner-up finishes, William Byron is ready for some vacation time with friends and family and training for 2020.

But first, a trip to Death Valley.

“This offseason, I’m going on a couple vacations and just going to stay pretty low key,” Byron stated.

For Jimmie Johnson, he’s so far visited Miami, Florida and played golf with Jack Nicklaus.

As for the rest of his offseason, spending time with his family will be top priority before returning to Daytona for the start of his final full-time season in NASCAR.
