CONCORD, N.C. -- Alex Bowman and Chase Elliott will both start inside the top 10 on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway, the first race in a doubleheader weekend.
Bowman will start his No.88 ChevyGoods.com/Adam’s Polishes Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE in sixth place. Rolling off the grid in eighth, Elliott will look to run fast in his No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE.
Jimmie Johnson will start in 17th place and William Byron will round out the pack of Hendrick Motorsports drivers in 19th.
The starting lineup was set through a drawing based on the drivers' current Cup Series standings that include all the completed races so far this season.
The starting lineup for Sunday's race will be determined by how the drivers finish Saturday. The drivers who finish in the top 20 will have their positions inverted, while the latter 20 will start in their finishing spots.
Joey Logano drew the pole position for Saturday's race.
The doubleheader weekend will start off on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 4 p.m. ET on NBCSN, MRN Radio and SiriusXM.
