CONCORD, N.C. -- Jimmie Johnson led the charge for Hendrick Motorsports, finishing in third for Sunday's 311-mile race at Dover International Speedway.
Teammates William Byron and Alex Bowman were right behind Johnson and finished in fourth and fifth, respectively, in the second Dover race of the weekend.
Byron's fourth-place result was his first top-five of the year and has him four points above the playoff line. Johnson is just under the bubble with minus four points.
"It's good to be on the 'good side,'" Byron said of being above the playoff line. "What's better is there's two or three guys within reach - really, two spots up for grabs. I hope Jimmie and I can both get those spots next week.
"I'm happy with what we did overnight. To go from four laps down (in 28th) to finishing in the top five is something to be said."
Chase Elliott ended his day in 39th after an accident early in the race forced him to head to the garage at the beginning of Stage 1.
Kevin Harvick won the race.
