CONCORD, N.C. -- Chase Elliott will be on the front row for Sunday's road-course race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE will start second at the roval, where he took the checkered flag in 2019.
Alex Bowman will be two rows behind Elliott and have a fifth-place start. William Byron will roll of the grid in 13th and Jimmie Johnson will round out the crew in 30th.
Denny Hamlin will start in the pole position.
The starting lineup is based on a new metric system put in place on Aug. 6. Points position is weighted at 35%; finishing position from the previous race is for 50%; and the fastest race lap makes up 15%.
