CONCORD, N.C. -- Ahead of his final race at Texas Motor Speedway as a full-time NASCAR Cup Series driver, Jimmie Johnson was honored at the Fort Worth track in a momentous way.
The "Jimmie Johnson Winner's Circle" sign was unveiled at Texas' victory lane to recognize the seven-time Cup Series champion. Johnson also was presented with a pair of unique cowboy boots from Lucchese Boots.
Clint Bowyer also received a tribute from the track since he is also retiring from full-time racing at the end of the season.
“Jimmie and Clint are tremendous ambassadors of our sport, both on and off the track, so we wanted to do something special for their final time here behind the wheel of a NASCAR Cup Series car,” said Texas Motor Speedway president and general manager Eddie Gossage. “Jimmie knows his way to SpeedyCash.com Victory Lane better than anyone so it was appropriate to do something special for him there."
Johnson holds several records at Texas Motor Speedway, including the most wins at the track (seven), most runner-up finishes (five), first among top-five finishes (16) and he has led the most laps at Texas with 1,152.
