CONCORD, N.C. -- The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series is coming to an end at Phoenix Raceway this Sunday and Chase Elliott has put Hendrick Motorsports in contention for the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series championship.
Elliott and the No. 9 team are the first Hendrick Motorsports crew to be in the Championship 4 since Jimmie Johnson competed for the title in 2016. The No. 48 team secured their seventh Cup Series title that year. Now Johnson will be racing for the last time as a full-time driving, bringing a historic career to a close.
Alex Bowman will try to keep his top-10 streak hot and William Byron will race hard to add one last race win to crew chief Chad Knaus.

Since NASCAR is taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of the teams and personnel at the track, there will be no practice and no qualifying.
The starting order for Sunday's race was announced Wednesday morning based on the new metric system put in place at the beginning of August.

The race will be on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on NBC.

Hendrick Motorsports has won the NASCAR Cup Series season finale on six occasions, including its inaugural year. Geoff Bodine and Tim Richmond won Riverside in 1984 and 1986, respectively. Jeff Gordon (1998) and Jerry Nadeau (2000) took the checkered flag at Atlanta. Racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Gordon won in 2012 and Jimmie Johnson in 2016. Hendrick Motorsports won the Cup championship in 1998 and 2016.
