CONCORD, N.C. -- Kyle Larson's dirt-track success continues. The newly tabbed driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE won the second event at the Carolina Midget Showdown on Saturday, which gave him enough points to place first in the event overall.
Larson, Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman all participated in the races. Elliott competed and Bowman served as a team owner.
Larson made a hard run to win in the first race, but lost to Chase Briscoe by a hair in the 30-lap event.
In the second 40-lap race, Larson and Briscoe were in a tight battle for first in the final laps. Larson pulled away at the last second to take the win.
Elliott placed third in the first event and fourth in the second event, earning a spot on the podium. Bowman's driver, CJ Leary, placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the races.
"These races are never easy to win, no matter if you have a lot of cars here or not many," Larson said on Speed51.TV. "That was definitely tough."
This victory marks Larson's 46th win in four different types of cars in 2020. He will have a chance to get another win in the Chili Bowl next month.
“It’s been a lot of fun, for sure," Larson said. "It’s definitely been a crazy year. I got to race a lot of cool cars and for great owners and travel throughout the country, race in front of some amazing fans and winning a lot of races.
"It’s been a blast, I’m happy to close it with a win.”
