CONCORD, N.C. -- Kyle Larson won his second Chili Bowl title in a row after he dominated the competition Saturday night.
The driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE led all 55 laps in the event, despite being hotly pursued by competing drivers. The race became a nailbiter in the end after a couple of late-race restarts, but Larson held on to finish first.
“To get two of these feels awesome,” Larson said after the race. “It was a different race than last year, but just thankful to get the chance to even come race here. I think a lot of us thought maybe we wouldn’t get to come run the Chili Bowl with the pandemic going on, so hats off to Emmett Hahn and everyone else with this event. It’s the greatest event in the world, and very lucky to be a part of it.”
Larson's son, Owen, helped present him with his second Golden Driller trophy after he won the evening's A-main event. His success comes after he won his A-main event on Tuesday night, along with his qualifying session and heat.
NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott finished seventh in the F-main and didn't qualify to move on to the A-main. He said he had a blast and hopes to make it back to the Tulsa, Oklahoma event.
Alex Bowman fielded two drivers, C.J. Leary and Jake Swanson, for the Chili Bowl as a team owner. Neither driver made it to the A-main race, but Swanson finished 13th in the B-main race and Leary placed 13th in the C-main event.
