CONCORD, N.C. -- William Byron will start on the front row in second for Sunday's race at Kansas Speedway.
The 23-year-old driver of the No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE earned the position, in part, after finishing second at Talladega Superspeedway last weekend. Teammate Chase Elliott will roll off the grid 17th, Alex Bowman will start the race in 25th and Kyle Larson will round out the Hendrick Motorsports group with a 32nd-place start.
The starting lineup was set based on the metrics formula from last season. It applies the data from the driver's finishing position of the last race (25%), the car owner's finishing position from the last race (25%), team owner points ranking (35%) and the fastest lap from the previous race.
Brad Keselowski will be on the pole.
