CONCORD, N.C. -- The NASCAR Cup Series is taking a little hiatus as the Tokyo Olympics gear up but that doesn’t mean the Hendrick Motorsports drivers won’t be competing behind the wheel.
The rare two-week break during the NASCAR Cup Series season gives all four drivers a chance to explore other forms of racing that aren’t always feasible during a Cup race week. Kyle Larson will continue his impressive circuit in dirt racing while Alex Bowman will take on team owner duties in his Ally sprint car.
Take a look below to see the recreational racing schedules of the Hendrick Motorsports drivers before the Cup Series returns with a bang at Watkins Glen International on Aug. 8.
KYLE LARSON
Never one to shy away from a dirt race, Larson will be at the track a couple of times before he competes again in his No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE. The 28-year-old driver will try to add on to his impressive 13 dirt track wins in 2021 alone when he heads to Fairbury, Illinois, at the end of the month.
Larson will take on Fairbury Speedway for two late model races on July 30 and 31 before returning to his Cup car at Watkins Glen. The Elk Grove, California, native will travel to Oskaloosa, Iowa, the very next day for a sprint car race at Oskaloosa Speedway.
ALEX BOWMAN
Bowman will get his hands dirty when he travels the Midwest for a whopping seven sprint car races in 11 days during the Olympic break. The founder of Alex Bowman Racing will test out his new Ally machine and his prowess in a sprint car.
Bowman will start his busy schedule on July 22 at Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana, then move on to Attica Raceway in Attica, Ohio, on July 23, Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio, on July 24, and he will round out the first part of his schedule on July 25 at Tri City Speedway in Franklin, Pennsylvania.
Bowman will have a few days to relax before he hits the road again, returning to Attica Raceway on July 30, Fremont Speedway on July 31 and Tri City Speedway on Aug. 1.
The NASCAR Cup Series will return to action on Aug. 8 at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN for some road course racing at Watkins Glen.
