CONCORD, N.C. – Chase Elliott and the No. 9 team are keeping the pedal to the metal as they get ready to race in the NASCAR Cup Series’ debut event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course this Sunday.

Elliott found his road course rhythm last Sunday at Watkins Glen International and fought hard to secure a second-place finish after starting from the rear. The 25-year-old driver has garnered two wins at road courses in the 2021 season, winning at Circuit of The Americas in May and Road America in July.

“I am looking forward to going somewhere new,” Elliott said. “That track is a place that I have never been. I‘m not sure I have ever seen it in person, so I am looking forward to getting there and checking it out. I will try to get some laps in there on Saturday and see where we stack up.”

In his last 12 points-paying road course races, Elliott has placed first in seven events, including his first win in the Cup Series at Watkins Glen in August 2018. With a victory this Sunday at the Indy road course, Elliott would become the second-winningest NASCAR driver on road courses with eight victories, which would tie him with Tony Stewart.

To continue the success the No. 9 team has had on road courses, Elliott and the crew will look to each other to maximize their performance.

“I feel like we are a pretty tight-knit group, and we are very straight-forward about our business,” Elliott said. “We come and do our jobs and go home. I feel like we have a great working relationship; we all know what to expect of one another and we all let each person in their respective position do their job and not question that. We just trust each other, lean on each other, and I feel like those conversations on how to go faster stay within our little group.”

Be sure to tune in this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on NBC to see Elliott and the rest of the Hendrick Motorsports drivers take on the Indy road course in its inaugural event with the Cup Series.
