AUSTIN, Texas – Hendrick Motorsports brought home a pair of top-five finishes Sunday in an up-and-down road race at Circuit of The Americas.

In an exciting overtime finish, Alex Bowman charged from fourth place to secure a runner-up result at the 3.41-mile track -- his second top-two effort in six events this season. Following the performance, the driver of the No. 48 Ally Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 moved up to fourth in NASCAR Cup Series points.

“We had a really fast Ally Camaro,” Bowman said. “I’ve been trying to do a better job as a race car driver at these road courses, and I felt like from where we started the weekend, I accomplished that. I’m so proud of (crew chief) Greg (Ives) and all the guys.”

With a fourth-place finish in Austin, defending event winner Chase Elliott extended his lead in the Cup Series standings to 13 points over Ryan Blaney. Teammates William Byron and Kyle Larson finished the race 12th and 29th, respectively.

Bowman, Elliott and Larson each picked up valuable stage points in an extended contest that went a total of 69 laps at the 20-turn road course. Ross Chastain recorded his first career victory.

In two races since Circuit of The Americas debuted on the calendar last season, Hendrick Motorsports has posted four top-five finishes there, including Elliott's 2021 victory.

The NASCAR schedule will feature short tracks for three consecutive weeks beginning with Sunday’s 400-lapper at Richmond Raceway (3:30 p.m. ET on FOX).
