CONCORD, N.C. - The Clash, an exhibition, non-points paying race that typically kicks off the NASCAR schedule, will return to Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the 2023 season. The announcement was made on the FOX Sports 1 pre-race show prior to Sunday's race at Sonoma Raceway.
The 2023 event will be held on Feb. 5, and televised on FOX. The 2023 DAYTONA 500 will take place two weeks later on Feb. 19. The remainder of the NASCAR Cup Series schedule will be announced at a later date, according to a NASCAR news release.
"Our entire industry made a bold move by bringing the Clash to the L.A. Coliseum this past February and it paid off by becoming an instant classic with both new and existing fans," Ben Kennedy, Senior Vice President, Racing Development and Strategy of NASCAR, said in a news release. "We are intent on showcasing our sport and drivers on the biggest stage and there is none bigger than the L.A. Coliseum. We’re thrilled to return to the heart of Los Angeles to officially start the season and set the stage for the DAYTONA 500."

The Next Gen's competitive debut came last February at the quarter-mile track that was constructed inside the iconic venue. The event saw heat races, last-chance qualifying races and a 150-lap race featuring 23 drivers. The weekend was a star-studded affair that also featured a pre-race concert and a halftime break for an additional concert as well.
In the 2022 race, Kyle Larson finished fifth and was the top finisher for Hendrick Motorsports in the event. William Byron also finished in the top 10.
