CONCORD, N.C. – The schedule has been set for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season as the sanctioning body announced the full slate of next season’s races on Wednesday afternoon.
The major changes to the schedule were previously announced. North Wilkesboro Speedway will return to the schedule for the first time since 1996 by hosting the NASCAR All-Star Race on May 21. Downtown Chicago will host a temporary 12-turn, 2.2-mile street course on July 2 on NBC.
"As we prepare to celebrate our 75th anniversary season, we are committed to delivering a schedule that acknowledges the deep history and tradition of our sport while establishing a bold future that brings the best racing in the world to new markets and new fans," said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR senior vice president of racing development and strategy.
The race at Auto Club Speedway will mark the last time on the two-mile layout of the California venue, according to the schedule release from NASCAR. Atlanta Motor Speedway announced that its July 9th race will be under the lights - marking the track's first night race since 2014.
The 2023 action kicks off for Hendrick Motorsports with the Clash exhibition event returning to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Feb. 5 on FOX and then the DAYTONA 500 kicking off the points-paying schedule on Feb. 19, also on FOX. The dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway will once again be on Easter on Apr. 9. The title race will be held at Phoenix Raceway for the fourth straight season on Nov. 5
Networks and start times for each individual race will be announced at a later date.
