CONCORD, N.C. - The entry list for 2023's edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans has been released and the Garage 56 entry is officially part of the event.
The collaborative effort between Hendrick Motorsports, NASCAR, Chevrolet and Goodyear had been awaiting its official invite for the event.

For the 100th running of the endurance event on June 10-11, 2023, the entry will carry a car number that has a storied history for both Hendrick Motorsports and NASCAR - the No. 24 made famous by team vice chairman Jeff Gordon. The NASCAR Hall of Famer won 93 NASCAR Cup Series races and four championships in the car number. In total, the iconic number has won 97 Cup Series races (fifth-most in NASCAR history) with current driver William Byron adding four wins to the ledger.
The driver lineup for Garage 56 was revealed was last month. Jimmie Johnson, Mike Rockenfeller and Jenson Button will be the three drivers with Jordan Taylor as the backup driver and coach of a roster that team owner Rick Hendrick said he "didn’t dream we would have." That foursome brings a wealth of racing experience and championships to the table. Knaus, Johnson’s former crew chief for seven NASCAR Cup Series championships, is heading up the project while Greg Ives is essentially serving as the crew chief.

Two weeks ago at Daytona International Speedway, the car and livery for the Garage 56 entry was unveiled. Since the announcement of the project last March, lots of simulation and on-track tests have taken place to work on different aspects of the vehicle and its performance.
The entry is a modified version of the Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 race car. The Garage 56 classification was introduced in 2012 as a special single-entry class for innovative vehicles. It allows for creativity without taking away a spot in the traditional starting grid in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
