Larson helped test different combinations ahead of the Memorial Day weekend Coca-Cola 600. More testing will take place on Wednesday at the 1.5-mile track.
"It is good to get some laps and get ready for a big race here in May," Larson said.
The 30-year-old won what is considered one of NASCAR’s crown-jewel races in 2021 when he won the pole and led 327 laps en route to the victory. The win marked the record 269th triumph for Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series, surpassing the mark of 268 wins by Petty Enterprises. The victory also kicked started the first of two different three-race win streaks for Larson in his title season.
In 2022, Larson nearly repeated as the race winner in an event that saw him rally from numerous mishaps to take the lead with 47 laps in regulation. A battle with Chase Briscoe in the closing laps brought out the caution and sent the race into NASCAR Overtime, where Larson would eventually finish ninth. The No. 5 HendrickCars.com team will race at Charlotte on Sunday, May 28, at 6 p.m. ET on FOX, PRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Channel 90).
"It’s one of the top-three races. I have been fortunate to win it once and was really close to winning it last year," Larson said. "It was a great race with (Chase) Briscoe and I and the late restarts there got crazy as they always do. I would love to win it again. It is a super prestigious race."
In the meantime, next up on the schedule for Larson and the Cup Series will be the season’s seventh race at Richmond Raceway. Tune in to watch the action unfold on Sunday, April 2, at 3:30 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
