INDIANAPOLIS – Kyle Larson's qualifying effort at Indianapolis Motor Speedway earned him the fifth starting position for the 2024 Indianapolis 500. The effort was just the beginning of a busy night of racing for the driver of the HendrickCars.com Chevrolet.
Following the conclusion of qualifying, Larson made his way to the airport and departed for North Wilkesboro Speedway to race in the NASCAR All-Star Race.

Beginning with the morning practice session, Larson and his No. 17 Arrow McLaren entry chose to take to the speedway to fine tune the car before his qualifying attempt. Despite a small slide during the session, the team gathered the knowledge they needed ahead of qualifying.
Larson, the seventh car to take to the track in the Fast 12, jumped to the top of the charts at 232.788 mph. The time would be enough to lock the No. 17 entry into the Fast 6 where the remaining cars would all make one single-car run to decide the first two rows for the main event. On his lone attempt, Larson's speed of 232.846 mph earned him the fifth starting position.
"I think just a great team really," Larson said before heading to the airport.
"They prepared an awesome race car that has stuck to the race track that also has speed. Qualifying went a lot better than I ever hoped or anticipated. Just proud of everybody at Arrow McLaren, proud of everybody at Hendrick Motorsports that have been involved in this."
"Now switch the mindset to the heavy stock car and try to go figure out North Wilkesboro. Excited to get there and have a chance a million bucks."
