CONCORD, N.C. - This weekend, the No. 17 HendrickCars.com entry is back in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. For this weekend, the team will compete at Charlotte Motor Speedway. 

On Friday afternoon, the group took to the 1.5-mile track for practice and qualifying ahead of Saturday afternoon's 200-lap main event.

In the lone 20 minute practice session for the day, Elliott put down the 21st-fastest lap. The team opted to join the track early and ran 22 laps on their first and only trip to the racing surface.

For qualifying, Elliott was the ninth car to qualify but had his lap was halted as the No. 14 entry spun coming to the checkered flag. On his return to the track he would post a lap time of 31.794 seconds and earn the 30th starting position.

Last season, Elliott made one start with the No. 17 group and earned a top-five finish at Pocono Raceway. In his career, the Dawsonville, Georgia, native has won twice in NASCAR sanctioned races at Charlotte, earning a victory in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series as well as the Cup Series in 2020.
